Weekend Getaway

My wife and I had an excellent stay at The Adolphus. We accepted the offer to upgrade to a suite for a small amount and we stayed on the 16th floor in a corner suite. We had a view over Akard St and enjoyed a fantastic view of the ATT Discovery District with its 100' ft. colorful LED media wall. The room was inviting, spacious, and full of niceties; and there niceties were very nice! The staff at The Adolphus was responsible for turning a regular weekend getaway into a very memorable weekend getaway. I think the staff for being very attentive to anything we needed which made our stay very comfortable. We both used the spa services and the service was absolutely excellent.

Had tea in the the French Room. Exquisite. Bruce met us and his outgoing personality, professionalism and attention to detail was outstanding and very impressive. James was a terrific waiter who was patient, engaging and well trained. We have had tea around Europe and the States and this was one of the best!!!

A very nice hotel in downtown Dallas

Overall, this is a very nice hotel. The one star deduction is because the valet parking situation is a bit of a pain, the downtown location was worse than we expected (yes, I checked the location out before we made the reservation), and the recurrent room bill issues were annoying. However, All of our interactions with staff were very good and everyone was pleasant, helpful and friendly. Check in was smooth and friendly. The person at the Elite desk all weekend was very nice and very helpful. The server at the Bistro restaurant Saturday was very nice, as was the bartender Friday night. Food and drink were good, not great. We did get the Titanium breakfast included. Our concerns were more about the location; downtown was just a pain and noisy. Not too noisy to sleep, however. The hotel is very nice and well kept/clean. As Titanium Bonvoy members, we were upgraded to a corner Executive King and it was a very nice room, although the couch was just a tad "shabby". We were offered a suite, but it was across from the elevators, and it was a good thing we turned that down, as the very loud wedding reception Saturday would have been worse at that location. Even from our corner room we could hear the bass thumping until 12:00 AM. Apparently it's a pretty popular reception location, which I understand. So be aware that might be an issue any weekend. Also, the parking is very expensive ($55 day) and kind of a pain, which I get because of the location. Again, we knew that before we made the reservation. We enjoyed the hotel, but the location was just more of a pain than we expected, and we were there for a family event outside the hotel. Also, as experienced Marriott customers, the bed did not feel like a Heavenly Bed and was a bit hard. The period (1920's?) decor is well done and well maintained, with a 1920's luxury experience vibe. Very nice. One comment and recommendation: watch your bill very closely. We stayed on points and there was a rather large charge Saturday morning, so we stopped at the front desk to inquire about it. It was a good thing, as there was an errant/extra valet charge, and a charge from the Rodeo Bar that was in addition to what we had spent the night before. The very helpful Elite desk person said she would fix those. But when we checked out the next morning and looked at the bill - definitely DO that - those charges were still on the bill. She took them off at that time, but it was annoying that we had to point those out twice. There was no argument or disagreement about the charges, but if we had not checked and noticed them AFTER checking out, that might not have been the case.

The check-in process was extremely easy. I want to mention Tahn at the drink desk. She was welcoming and helpful. This classic hotel is refurbished perfectly. The rooms are large with modern baths. I was there for a three day conference and the hotel had plenty of facilities to accommodate all 300 of us . Recommend the Rodeo Bar for lunch.

Great time!! Jenna and Sanique from the front desk have been warm and welcoming to our group staying here. I have also appreciated the rooms and the overall atmosphere at the hotel. It is central a has a few eateries that I have enjoyed whilst staying here.
